Get Ready for Your Canadian Citizen Exam
If you want to acquire Canadian citizenship, part of the process may be for you to take the citizenship test or go to the citizenship interview. This will depend on your age and application.
The purpose for the Canadian citizenship test is to show the government of Canada what you know about Canada, your prospective new country of citizenship. You’ll be asked 20 questions about the rights and responsibilities of Canadians and Canada’s history, geography, economy government, laws and symbols.
The Canadian citizenship test questions are based on the official citizenship study guide: Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship. You will have to choice of taking the test in English or French. The test will be 30 minutes long. The format will be multiple-choice and true or false questions. Out of the 20 questions, you will need to get 15 correct answers to pass the test.
Many people study for and prepare for their Canadian citizenship tests on their own. However, believe it or not, some people have failed the test and sometimes more than once. You will be given an opportunity to try the test three times. If you don’t pass the test after 3 tries, your application will be refused and you will have to reapply.
