The government of Canada updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET) on May 13, 2022.
According to the latest update, 6,017 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and an additional 22,317 arrived by air between January 1 and May 8, 2022. Between March 17 and May 11, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) received 223,664 applications under the CUAET.
The applications of 104,553 Ukrainian nationals have been approved so far. Canada is dedicated to supporting those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The government of Canada has launched special programs to help thousands of Ukrainian nationals and their families find safety in Canada.
Ukrainian nationals and their family members can also apply for a temporary resident visa to travel to and stay in Canada temporarily through the CUAET.
