The government of Canada published on June 23, 2022 about a new program delivery update for family class applications.
The new guidelines will assist immigration officers in assessing:
multiple applications
foreign sources of income
counting family size
family class applications with separated spouses
income requirements for sponsoring parents and grandparents
minimum income requirements for the 2020 and 2021 taxation years and co-signers
In addition, the instructions have been modified to assist officers in recognizing and processing sponsors who were formerly from Quebec but now live outside of the province.
A sponsor for the family class applications must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or Status Indian, at least 18 years of age, and resides in Canada (except in specific circumstances, see Sponsors residing abroad).
