The government of Canada updated on April 29, 2022 about the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET).

According to the latest update, 5,197 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and an additional 17,056 arrived by air between January 1 and April 24, 2022. Also, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) received 180,903 applications under the CUAET between March 17 and April 26, 2022.

The applications of 71,057 Ukrainian nationals have been approved so far. The government created the CUAET to help Ukrainians and their family members to come to Canada as quickly as possible and help them to work and study while in Canada.

The CUAET allows visitors to Canada, as well as those with work permits and study permits, to extend their right to live, work, and study in Canada temporarily.
