The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently stated that multiple people will be able to submit their applications for citizenship online in the near future.
Currently, only single persons are allowed to apply for Canadian citizenship via the internet. Families and children will be able to use the website in the fall of 2022. Last year, IRCC made some modifications to its system, allowing clients to utilize the IMM 5476 - Use of Representatives form and use the services of a representative.
IRCC plans to develop "additional functionality for representatives" following the implementation of the e-application. Currently, representatives are only able to assist clients in preparing online applications, but cannot submit them on their behalf. After submitting the online application, they can communicate with IRCC on behalf of the applicant.
According to IRCC, a new form, IMM 5476 - Use of Representatives, was added to their system in November of 2021, allowing clients to use a representative to prepare their application.
Also, they updated the screening questions so that clients working with representatives could submit their applications electronically.
