Newfoundland and Labrador has introduced the Ukrainian Family Support Desk

Newfoundland and Labrador established a Ukrainian Family Support Desk on March 4, 2022, to offer assistance to Ukrainian citizens escaping war and persecution.


The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, stated:

"I was very pleased to meet this morning with Minister Fraser. Top of mind was the developing crisis in Ukraine and the overwhelming expressed desire of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to support Canada’s efforts to help."

According to Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, the new Ukrainian Family Support Desk will allow people living in the province to help Ukrainians to arrive soon.


The Minister added that there were an overwhelming response and a strong wish to help in this stance and the population of Newfoundland and Labrador will greet Ukrainians with open arms.
