On June 3, 2022, Immigration, Population Growth and Skills of Newfoundland and Labrador called homeowners to consider offering affordable homestays and housing to Ukrainian newcomers.
The number of Ukrainians choosing to reside in Newfoundland and Labrador is increasing, necessitating the construction of more rooms, flats, and lease agreements. As a result, long-term housing is becoming increasingly desirable for Ukrainian families.
Long-term housing and employment are essential for retaining newcomers in the community over time. Offering homestays and housing is entirely optional. Anyone interested in providing housing should contact the Association for New Canadians.
Also, there is particularly high demand for accommodations in St. John's, Mount Pearl and Paradise, all of which are serviced by Metrobus. However, employers who can connect a new hire with housing are more likely to succeed in securing a match.
