The Ministry of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills of Newfoundland and Labrador announced the expansion of the Ukrainian Family Support Desk on March 17, 2022.
The Ministry will offer in-person, expedited support for Ukrainians seeking temporary or permanent resettlement in the province. The Staff of the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism will travel to Poland to directly interact with Ukrainian refugees who may be looking for information on coming to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The team will conduct information sessions about immigration programs and support services offered by the province, connect Ukrainians seeking work in Newfoundland and Labrador, and prioritize immigration nomination applications from war-affected individuals.
The government of Newfoundland and Labrador continues to work closely with the Federal government on all immigration-related issues, and will be in contact with local embassy officials on the ground.
The Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, Honourable Gerry Byrne said:
"Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and people across North America are telling us that the Ukrainian Family Support Desk is absolutely essential to helping Ukrainians in their time of need. We will fulfill our duty of citizenship. We will support democracy in the fight against tyranny. We stand with Ukraine."
