Updates on the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) was renamed to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on February 16, 2022 . The government of Alberta also changed the names of several other programs.

The several other programs that were changed are as follows:

  • The name of the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream has been changed to the Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

  • The Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream has been renamed to the Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream and

  • The Self-Employed Farmer Stream is now the Farm Stream

In addition, Alberta also launched two new streams including the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta.

The nominee must either have skills to fill a job shortage or be planning to start or buy a business in Alberta as well as be able to provide for their families. The program also allows you to apply for permanent residence along with your spouse, common-law partner, and children if you are nominated.

Applications for permanent residence are managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Therefore, it is the federal government who makes final decisions on such applications.
